Part of the 11 By 11 programme
Art & Protest - An Anti-Apartheid Legacy Centre Workshop
Students will be introduced to the heritage and legacy of the struggle against apartheid during this session and explore some of the visual materials used to promote awareness of the anti-apartheid cause (including posters, t-shirts and badges).
Students will design and create their own flags/banners/badges/t-shirt designs that speak to the issues that they want to support/spread awareness of.
They will develop skills in engaging with archive materials, reading symbolism, messaging and visual literacy as well as practical creative skills.
Suitable for KS2, KS3 & KS4. Workshops last 60-120 mins, pending your timetable. We recommend 90 minutes and a maximum of one class at a time. We can work with multiple classes in one day e.g. if you have 2 class entry. Until January 2027 this workshop will be delivered in your school.
