Detached Youth Sessions – West Park
Funded by DCMS & The National Lottery Community Fund
Supporting Communities delivers detached youth work sessions across Long Eaton, engaging with young people in the places where they naturally spend their time. Funded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)and The National Lottery Community Fund's Million Hours Fund – Round 3, the project provides additional youth work opportunities in communities where young people are at greater risk of anti-social behaviour, social isolation, and limited access to positive activities.
Our experienced youth workers build positive relationships with young people aged 8–17, offering informal support, guidance, and access to positive activities within their local community. Sessions focus on improving wellbeing, building confidence, developing life skills, and creating trusted relationships with adults, helping young people feel safer, more connected, and empowered to make positive choices.
Through regular outreach, detached youth work enables us to engage young people who may not access traditional youth provision, providing early intervention, signposting, and opportunities to take part in wider Supporting Communities programmes, including mobile youth provision, workshops, volunteering opportunities, and 1:1 support where appropriate.
