👾 We’re back again for the British Council’s annual London Data Week event - Code and Create!


Date: Thursday, 10 July 2025

Time: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Location: British Council Stratford Office, 1 Redman Place, London E20 1JQ


Are you a teenager interested in the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and coding? Join British Council’s AI experts for an exciting workshop designed to introduce you to the basics of AI, chatbots and programming.


In this event, we’ll recreate a classic arcade game using ChatGPT, a large language model, before putting your pitching skills to the test with the chance to demo your game and win prizes.

No prior experience or knowledge is required – just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!


Agenda

3:45 pm – 4:00 pm: Registration at the British Council reception

4:00 pm – 4:15 pm: Brief of the task from our instructors, group allocation and introductory exercises (Introduction to ChatGPT, Jupyter Notebook interface, Python libraries, and how to build/test a game)

4:15 pm – 5:00 pm : Main Task Part 1: Building one of four pre-selected game types (1 instructor per 3 students)

5:00 pm – 5:15 pm: Refreshment Break

5:15 pm – 6:00 pm: Main Task Part 2: Testing your game and writing the final pitch

6:00 pm – 6:45 pm: Final Pitches, Demos & Prizes (5 minutes per group, followed by prize-giving)


Please note:

  • Participants must be at least 13 years old (ChatGPT’s minimum sign-up age).
  • Please bring your own laptop in order to participate with the event
  • Create a free ChatGPT account in advance: https://chat.openai.com
  • This event is targeted at all teenagers aged 13-16.
  • The event will start promptly at 4pm.
  • Spaces are limited, if you register for a place and are not able to attend please cancel the booking ahead of time to allow another teenager a spot to participate.
