Description

Supporting Communities delivers detached youth work sessions in partnership with McDonald's through the BBC Children in Need Makin' It Programme. The project provides young people with access to trusted youth workers in community locations where they naturally spend their time, helping to create safer spaces and positive opportunities for young people aged 8–17.

Our youth workers engage with young people through outreach, informal education, positive activities, mentoring, and early intervention support. The programme focuses on building confidence, improving wellbeing, developing life skills, and reducing anti-social behaviour by creating positive relationships and connecting young people to wider support services when needed.

Working alongside local McDonald's restaurants, community partners, and statutory agencies, the project helps ensure young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to make positive choices while strengthening connections within their local communities.
