Session 2 · Governance, Structure & Legal Foundations Tuesday 29 April · Online · 6.30pm–8pm
Starting something new means making decisions about how your organisation is set up — and it can feel overwhelming. This session breaks it all down in plain language so you can move forward with confidence.
We'll look at the different legal structures available to you — CIC, CIO, charity, unincorporated — and help you work out which one fits your work. We'll also cover the governance basics every organisation needs: trustees, directors, and how decisions get made. And we'll touch on safeguarding and key policies so you know what you need and where to get support.
You'll come away with: · Clarity on the right legal structure for your organisation · A grounding in governance without the jargon · A clear safeguarding starting point
Session 3 · Funding Pathways & Representing Your Community Wednesday 6 May · Online · 6.30pm–8pm
Funding is one of the biggest questions community builders face — and one of the most misunderstood. This session gives you a clear, honest picture of what's out there and how to go after it.
We'll walk through the funding landscape, what funders are really looking for, and how to know when you're ready to apply. We'll cover the basics of a strong bid structure and — crucially — how to use your community's voice and lived experience as evidence that strengthens every application you write.
You'll come away with: · A funding readiness checklist · A basic bid structure you can start using straight away · The confidence to apply
