The Midlife Employability and Empowerment course is designed to address the unique needs and challenges faced by unemployed and low-paid workers over the age of 50 living in Deptford and the surrounding areas. While we continue to focus on individuals from Black, Asian, and other global majority communities, we welcome all participants aged 50+ who are interested in empowering themselves during this stage of life.
The programme is delivered both virtually and face-to-face and provides the tools needed to navigate challenges and seize opportunities during this transformative period. Through a combination of workshops, resources, and a supportive community, this course aims to build your confidence, reduce isolation, and motivate you to take control of your career, well-being, and financial future.

Programme Overview:
The Midlife Employability and Empowerment course is divided into three main areas: Work, Wellbeing, and Wealth, with an added emphasis on digital skills. Each area will be covered through a series of workshops, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the tools you need to succeed.
Work
The Work workshops focus on equipping you with the skills and resources needed to re-enter the workforce or advance your career. We will cover topics such as CV writing, interview preparation, digital skills, and career mapping, as well as exploring alternative career paths and networking opportunities. Additionally, for those interested in self-employment, we will guide you and signpost where support for starting your own business is available. For those seeking volunteering opportunities, we offer networking sessions to connect you with organisations in need of your skills and experience.
Wellbeing
The Wellbeing workshops will address your physical and mental well-being needs during midlife. We will delve into topics such as stress management, self-care practices, and healthy lifestyle habits. By promoting self-care and resilience, we aim to empower you to navigate the challenges of midlife with confidence and vitality.
Wealth
The Wealth workshops focus on providing unbiased financial guidance, highlighting the monetary advantages of employment, and assessing pension savings alongside retirement objectives. This includes preparing for retirement, understanding its financial implications, and outlining strategies to enhance pension savings. We will also consider life events and their possible financial effects, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing your financial future.
Digital Skills
Understanding that digital skills are important, this programme focuses on improving your ability to use technology. We will teach you basic digital skills to help you feel more comfortable with technology and ready for today’s modern world.
