<h2>Colourful Sounds</h2>Cross-curricula at KS2Using Luigi Russolo’s masterpiece Music (1911), learners will discover the concept of synaesthesia along with the way that the sounds around us have been a source of inspiration for many of artists. The discussion will support students in developing their abstract thinking, visual literacy and creativity as well as being able to identify sounds and colours through Russolo’s painting. Students will then create their own pieces, making drawings based on sounds from our environment. They will learn how to combine images in order to portray movement.

The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art opened in London in 1998. A Grade II listed Georgian town house, it was originally restored with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Further recent renovations have opened up the space of the ground-floor entranceway, bookshop and café, while its six galleries and art library have also been fully upgraded. The Collection is known internationally for its core of Futurist works, as well as figurative art and sculpture dating from 1890 to the 1950s. The exhibition programme continues to address artists, movements, and questions in ways that change our understanding of Italian art and culture.

11 by 11 is a free programme of creative and cultural activities for children, young people and teachers. It is a borough-wide commitment for schools, cultural organisations and council services to work together to make sure children and young people can take part in creative and cultural activities, especially those who are most in need and most disadvantaged.
