You can attend if all of these apply:
During your session as a farmer, you'll have the chance to engage closely with our alpacas. We have 7 boys and 7 girl alpacas. At the beginning of the session there will be a short briefing explaining what we are going to do in the session. We will start by cleaning the alpacas paddocks and shelter to make sure they are are in a clean field. We will then get the alpacas breakfast weighed out into their feed bowls and the children will give them their feed. Like all animals, they need to have regular health checks, so as a group we will round the alpacas up, similar to rounding sheep up and put them in their pen. The health checks include checking their condition, making sure they are not too thin or too fat, checking their teeth and toe nails. We will finish the alpaca session off with an alpaca walk where the children can lead the alpacas in our secure field. Lunch will be chicken wraps and chips followed by apple crumble and custard, if the weather is hot then we will substitute the custard for ice cream.
After lunch the children will have the opportunity to learn some bricklaying. All the equipment and materials used will be suitable for children. The bricks are wooden and the mixture is lime mortar.
