Normanton Detached Youth Session
Funded by Sporting Communities - Mayor's Fund Consortium
Supporting Communities delivers weekly detached youth work sessions across Normanton, engaging with young people in the places where they naturally spend their time. The project provides accessible, relationship-based youth work within local communities, helping young people access positive opportunities, build resilience, reduce anti-social behaviour, and improve community safety.
Our experienced youth workers engage with young people aged 8–17, providing trusted support through informal conversations, mentoring, guidance, and positive activities. Sessions focus on improving emotional wellbeing, building confidence and self-esteem, developing life skills, promoting healthy relationships, and encouraging young people to make informed, positive choices.
Through regular street-based outreach, we engage young people who may not otherwise access traditional youth services, enabling early intervention and reducing barriers to support. Young people are signposted into wider Supporting Communities programmes, including youth clubs, volunteering opportunities, employability and skills workshops, holiday provision, targeted one-to-one support, and specialist services where appropriate.
