We’re looking for an enthusiastic Driver/Operative -Recyling to join our team in Newport on a 6 month fixed term basis. While you’ll support a range of recycling and waste projects across the city, your main focus will be an exciting ongoing project centred around food waste recycling, working directly with households to understand recycling behaviour and encourage positive change.
What you’ll be doing:
- Playing a key role in a household food waste recycling project, visiting homes, engaging with residents, and explaining how to recycle better
- Having friendly, positive conversations with residents to promote recycling and reduce food waste
- Collecting, recording, and managing data to a good standard, with strong attention to detail
- Supporting recycling education, engagement activities, and campaigns across Newport
- Helping with other recycling projects and initiatives - no two days are the same!
About you:
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is highly motivated, active, and enthusiastic about recycling and sustainability
- Has excellent communication skills and is confident engaging with the public
- Is capable of capturing data accurately and working in an organised way
- Is positive, approachable, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team
- Has a genuine interest in environmental improvement
