Tower Hamlets CVS is dedicated to supporting the voluntary and community sector in Tower Hamlets. We provide funding opportunities, resources, and job vacancies to help local organisations thrive and make a positive impact in our community. Through our Neighbourhood Forum, Cornerstone, and Tower Hamlets Connection Network, we facilitate collaboration and networking among VCS organizations, enabling them to access support, share knowledge, and work together to address local challenges.

Our efforts have resulted in increased access to funding, resources, and job opportunities for VCS organizations in Tower Hamlets. We have also fostered a strong sense of community and collaboration, leading to impactful initiatives and projects that address the diverse needs of our local residents. Through our work, we aim to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of VCS organizations, ultimately contributing to the well-being and resilience of the community we serve.

Join us for this quarters health and wellbeing forum, we will be looking at the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, the neighbourhood forums and an update on the VCS strategy and state of the sector report for the North East London VCSFE collaborative.&nbsp;We will have a presentation from Tim Hughes who is leading on developing the integrated neighbourhood teams in Tower Hamlets. The Integrated Neighbourhood Teams is a new initiative in the NHS designed to bring together a range of professionals, including social prescribers, GPs, practice nurses, mental health professionals and the voluntary sector. In order to deliver joined up preventative care at a neighbourhood level to address the specific needs of local populations and tackling inequalities.&nbsp;Here is the NHS confederation document on the case for change.<a href="https://www.nhsconfed.org/publications/working-better-together-neighbourhoods" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.nhsconfed.org/publications/working-better-together-neighbourhoods</a>&nbsp;Sam Crosby will be giving us an update on the work of the neighbourhood forums in PCN 1 and 2.The programme is looking at health literacy in young people and access to interpreting and advocacy services to improve communications with communities.&nbsp;Vicky Scott the borough representative will be giving an update on the state of the sector survey and the VCS strategy. And on the themed representatives and how the sector can support resident voice in the integrated care meeting structures.

This session is for local authority and NHS staff interested in strengthening their approach to conducting equality impact assessments.Learning outcomes:• The purpose and overview process of equality impact assessment.• What makes an EqIA inclusive? Beyond protected characteristics, considering intersectionality, lived experiences, and accessibility.• Recognising and avoiding common pitfalls.• Effectively engaging stakeholders: Best practices for involving affected communities, other external stakeholders, staff networks and wider staff groups• A practical walkthrough of an EqIA.• Embedding inclusive EqIAs into organisational culture.• Encouraging proactive rather than reactive assessments. Preparing an inclusive  equality impact assessment

The Flourishing communities project is planning a hidden voices in health event for the 9th June to share the learning from the project and identify ways that the work can be embedded in the health and care systems. The event is on women's sexual and reproductive health at the Bernie Cameron Centre in Mile End between 10-12. The partnership has worked hard over the last two years to improve outcomes for women's sexual and reproductive health. At this session we are wanting to&nbsp;advance the discussions initiated and focusing on actionable next steps to improve sexual health and maternity care for all women, specifically Global majority women. The event will bring together VCS partners, statutory health and social care services, commissioners and&nbsp;academic researchers to explore what is happening, where the gaps are and how we can action and strengthen support and referral for women. Using the Insights from the different sectors into forging deeper relationships between health and the voluntary sector.

Join us for our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 5 June, 4.30 – 6.00pm at St Hilda’s East Community Centre.&nbsp;Tell us about your experiences of working with the local authority. Steve Halsey (CEO, London Borough of Tower Hamlets) will be present to hear and address your concerns. In addition hear about our work in 2023/24 and THCVS members will elect our trustees.
