Sustainable Wantage is a Community Action Group, part of a network of over 100 similar CAGs across Oxfordshire, focused on activities that protect and enhance our natural environment and strengthen our local community. We are run by volunteers interested in actions that have a positive impact and increase our resourcefulness and resilience as a community.

Come and lend a hand looking after Wantage Market Garden! We work on a variety of gardening and DIY tasks each Sunday afternoon. A great opportunity if:you're looking to learn to gardenyou love gardening but don't have much outdoor space at homeoryou just like working with others and enjoying a cuppa and a biscuit in return for your time! No need to book, just come along any Sunday to have a look around and get involved.All welcome.

<h2 class="ql-align-center">Don’t ditch it - Stitch it!</h2> The Stitch Clinic is a new, once-a-month bookable session, similar to the ever so popular Repair Café... but for textiles. Our volunteer stitchers will help you give your well-loved items a longer life. Missing buttons, torn seams, tired teddies, pesky holes, worn areas - they can help with small repairs and simple alterations. Love your mend? The team provide their time and skills for free, but if you can, please help us back with a small donation—every penny goes toward supplies, electricity and tea to keep them going! Booking is required, please select a time slot and fill out a short form.Maximum of 2 items per person / per session (please book separate slots for each item). We focus on minor repairs and alterations, and can't take complex things such as jacket zippers or bridal items. If you’re unsure, please send us an email to wantagemix@gmail.com While we’ll do our very best, all repairs are undertaken at the owner’s risk. Please ensure items are washed and clean before bringing them in.

<h2 class="ql-align-center">Don’t chuck it - Fix it!</h2> We have volunteer fixers ready to help you repair all kinds of household and electrical items;&nbsp;from toasters and toys, to hairdryers and hoovers.&nbsp;For sewing repairs or tool sharpening please contact wantagemix@gmail.com. We offer to look at your item for free. If you are able to leave a donation, this supports the time our volunteers generously give, and allows us to run more free events. We are happy to help investigate most items, please only book in items that are easily transportable by 1 person. Please note: we cannot look at microwaves. Booking is required, please select a time slot. Maximum of 2 items per person on each Repair Cafe date, please book separate slots for each item. Please be aware we are volunteers, not repair professionals. The repairers and organisers of the Repair Cafe are not liable for any loss that may result from advice and instructions concerning repairs or resulting from work performed in the Repair Café.

We look forward to meeting you in Betjeman Park at 4.30am on Sunday 3rd May; please be considerate of the residential area around - not everyone is happy to be awake so early! The walk will last approx. 2 hours, please wrap up warm and wear sturdy footwear. We're aiming to be at Columbia Coffee at 6.30am for breakfast.

Want to improve your bird ID skills or just love getting up and out in the morning?&nbsp;Join us for a dawn chorus walk on International Dawn Chorus Day.&nbsp; We will be meeting at Betjeman Park before heading along the Letcombe Brook corridor to Willow Walk, looking and listening for birds as we go.&nbsp; Followed by breakfast at 6.30am at Columbia Coffee in Wantage Market Place.

Would you like to keep fit and help protect and enhance our local green spaces? If so why not join the Wild Wantage ‘Green Gym’, where you can help with practical outdoor tasks to improve habitats for local biodiversity. From gardening to tree planting, hedge care to scything, our regular volunteer work parties help your physical and mental well-being and our local environment. May Green Gym: Pewit Woodland: Join us for a working session at Pewit woodland, nettle pulling, making a clearing on the eastern side, and having a general tidy Please wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. You'll get a link to a map in the booking confirmation email so you know where to find us! If we need to cancel due to bad weather we will email no later than 9am on the day.
