Sustainable Wantage is a Community Action Group, part of a network of over 100 similar CAGs across Oxfordshire, focused on activities that protect and enhance our natural environment and strengthen our local community. We are run by volunteers interested in actions that have a positive impact and increase our resourcefulness and resilience as a community.

<h2 class="ql-align-center">Don’t chuck it - Fix it!</h2> We have volunteer fixers ready to help you repair all kinds of household and electrical items;&nbsp;from toasters and toys, to hairdryers and hoovers.&nbsp;For sewing repairs or tool sharpening please contact wantagemix@gmail.com. We are happy to help investigate most items, please only book in items that are easily transportable by 1 person. Please note: we cannot look at microwaves. Booking is required, please select a time slot. Maximum of 2 items per person on each Repair Cafe date, please book separate slots for each item. We offer to look at your item for free, if you are able to make a donation to help us keep running the Repair Cafe that is appreciated. Please be aware we are volunteers, not repair professionals. The repairers and organisers of the Repair Cafe are not liable for any loss that may result from advice and instructions concerning repairs or resulting from work performed in the Repair Café.

Want to improve your bird ID skills or just love getting up and out in the morning?&nbsp;Join us for a dawn chorus walk on International Dawn Chorus Day.&nbsp; We will be meeting at Betjeman Park before heading along the Letcombe Brook corridor to Willow Walk, looking and listening for birds as we go.&nbsp;

Free entry (no need to book, just come along). Bring your own picnic! Flower, veg and house plants, tombola, home-made cakes, kid's activities, seed swap, World of Mint, tea, coffee and more. Cash only. All proceeds are used to maintain the garden. Find us behind the Wantage Community Support Service building. Assistance dogs only.

Would you like to keep fit and help protect and enhance our local green spaces? If so why not join the Wild Wantage ‘Green Gym’, where you can help with practical outdoor tasks to improve habitats for local biodiversity. From gardening to tree planting, hedge care to scything, our regular volunteer work parties help your physical and mental well-being and our local environment. April: Continuing mulching around the newly planted hedging at Manor Road Park The 2,300 hedging plants that we put in need looking after. We have some mulch to spread around their roots to suppress nettles and retain moisture. Please bring a spade or shovel - and a wheel barrow if you can. Bonus extra Green Gym session for anyone looking for a good workout! Wild Wantage works to improve habitats for local biodiversity. Over the winter we put in 2,300 hedging plants along the top edge of Manor Road Park to help create a wildlife corridor. We're now adding wood chip around the base of the plants to help suppress the nettles, retain moisture, and give the hedge the best chance of getting established. We have regular Green Gym work parties on the second Friday of each month, this is an extra session to get more of the wood chip in place before the nettles get going! Please bring a spade or shovel - and a wheel barrow if you can. Meet in the Cemetery Car park (off Chain Hill) at 10.30am

Come and lend a hand looking after Wantage Market Garden! We work on a variety of gardening and DIY tasks each Sunday afternoon. A great opportunity if:you're looking to learn to gardenyou love gardening but don't have much outdoor space at homeoryou just like working with others and enjoying a cuppa and a biscuit in return for your time!
