Sustainable Wantage

Sustainable Wantage is a Community Action Group, part of a network of over 100 similar CAGs across Oxfordshire, focused on activities that protect and enhance our natural environment and strengthen our local community. We are run by volunteers interested in actions that have a positive impact and increase our resourcefulness and resilience as a community.

Drop in to Down to Earth Café to learn about&nbsp;CircleUp&nbsp;— a European research project focused on reducing waste, sharing resources, and supporting a more circular local economy. We are looking for 40 Wantage and Grove households to become participants in this research project. Households will get £200 for taking part! This session at Down to Earth will have some food, tea &amp; coffee, and a chance for you to meet the UK CircleUp team. Down to Earth Community Cafe

Thanks for booking for our Ancient and Veteran trees walk Please meet in the A338 layby opposite Gypsy Lane Woods near Grove, at 10am. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. If the weather&nbsp;is bad and we need to cancel or postpone&nbsp;this session we'll be in touch by email no later than 9am on the day.&nbsp; See you there!&nbsp;&nbsp;

A guided tour of ancient and veteran trees from Grove to Ardington Marsh Lock and along the Old Canal. As well as looking at what makes a tree ancient or veteran, there will be opportunities to spot local wildlife. The walk will be approximately 6 miles and will be circular, ending back at the lay-by. Be prepared for some rough terrain, stiles and muddy / wet conditions.

We offer to look at your item for free. If you are able to leave a donation, this supports the time our volunteers generously give, and allows us to run more free events. We are happy to help investigate most items, please only book in items that are easily transportable by 1 person. Please note: we cannot look at microwaves. Booking is required, please select a time slot. Maximum of 2 items per person on each Repair Cafe date, please book separate slots for each item. Please be aware we are volunteers, not repair professionals. The repairers and organisers of the Repair Cafe are not liable for any loss that may result from advice and instructions concerning repairs or resulting from work performed in the Repair Café.

Bring your garden tools, knives, secateurs, and other hand tools to our free sharpening session, run by qualified volunteers.We’ll be sharpening tools on the day to help you start the season safely and efficiently.
