Sustainable Wantage is a Community Action Group, part of a network of over 100 similar CAGs across Oxfordshire, focused on activities that protect and enhance our natural environment and strengthen our local community. We are run by volunteers interested in actions that have a positive impact and increase our resourcefulness and resilience as a community.

Would you like to keep fit and help protect and enhance our local green spaces? If so why not join the Wild Wantage ‘Green Gym’, where you can help with practical outdoor tasks to improve habitats for local biodiversity. From gardening to tree planting, hedge care to scything, our regular volunteer work parties help your physical and mental well-being and our local environment. We run a monthly Repair Café in Wantage and are looking for volunteer fixers to help diagnose and repair all kinds of household and electrical items. We're seeking volunteers with experience of fixing small electricals; enthusiasm for investigating and problem solving; and a desire to help bring things back to life - reducing waste and saving people money. Wondering if this might be for you? Jo (Repair Cafe organiser) and Justin (Repair Cafe volunteer) will explain how the Repair Cafe works in The Mix, the items we see and the kinds of issues we tend to find, with lots of opportunities for you to ask questions. If you enjoy fixing things, do pop along and see if this is something you'd like to be part of!

We’re looking for volunteers to help us understand how to engage more people withSustainable Wantage. In July, we held two successful kick-off workshops and designed threesmall research projects with the help of some volunteers. This training workshop is for volunteers who are interested in the Library of Things. Thecurrent plan is to reach out to users registered on the Library of Things platform who haven’tborrowed something yet with the aim of understanding what’s holding them back and whatmight encourage them to borrow their first item. The workshop will include some short training on the relevant research methods (survey andthink aloud studies) with time included to plan volunteer roles and next steps. Jo (Sustainable Wantage) and Parky and Liz (University of Nottingham) will be on hand toguide you through all the training needed and to answer any questions you might have.If you’re interested, please do come along, even if you’re not sure yet how you could beinvolved. We’d love to talk with you and there are opportunities for everyone to get involved. Workshop – rebranding the Refill Store at The Mix and understanding Clothes Swaps from the youth perspective

Enjoy a free delicious community meal between 11:30am - 2pm at Down to Earth Cafe. All welcome! No need to book, just pop in. Supported by funding from OCVA

Free entry - no need to book, just pop along! Outdoor plants available, e.g. foxglove, sweet william, as well as house plants, homemade cakes, crafts, Wild Wantage, World of Mint, and more! Cash only, all proceeds are used to maintain the garden. (No dogs except assistance dogs)

<h1 class="ql-align-center">Apple pressing&nbsp;</h1><h2 class="ql-align-center"> </h2><h2 class="ql-align-center">Want to turn your surplus apples and windfalls into juice? </h2><h2 class="ql-align-center">We can help! </h2>Sustainable Wantage volunteers will be running our apple press throughout the day, and will also have a pasteuriser available so your juice keeps for longer. Please drop off your apples between 10-10.30am and collect them between 4-5pm. <h2 class="ql-align-center">Bookings only, max 3 buckets of apples per person.</h2>£2 a bottle (if your apples make more juice than you need you can choose how manyto take home).
