As Fell Kin, we provide a self-directed, consent-based setting for home educated young people aged 11 and above, nestled in the picturesque Lake District. Our community offers a safe space for young individuals to embrace their true selves and delve into their own passions and curiosities. Through our program, we aim to empower these young people to explore their interests and develop essential life skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. By fostering a sense of belonging and autonomy, we strive to enable our participants to flourish and thrive as they navigate their educational journey.

At Fell Kin, our focus is on creating a community where young individuals can freely express themselves and pursue their interests, fostering a sense of belonging and self-discovery. Through our unique approach, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of home educated young people, providing them with the tools and support they need to develop confidence, resilience, and a love for learning. By offering a space where they can be their authentic selves, we believe we are contributing to the holistic growth and well-being of these young individuals, empowering them to embrace their individuality and reach their full potential.

Fell Kin is born out of a collaboration between parents of Stomping Ground CIC, who have been holding self-directed community spaces for 15 years, and the local Home Ed community. Together we wanted to create a space where young people could come together and be their authentic selves.There will be 5 practitioners from Fell Kin CIC alongside practitioners from other settings. <h2>Building insight and skills for holding consent-based, self-directed communities: </h2><h2>Community Meetings and Conflict Navigation.</h2> Saturday, 21st June, 10am-6pm Staveley Pavilion near Kendal, Cumbria Spend the day working with Sophie Christophy, co-founder and culture leader of The Cabin and The Lodge, and explore ways to: <ul><li>set up and run opening and closing meetings for your community which empower every voice and create purpose;</li><li>navigate conflict when it arises in your community;</li><li>network and deep-dive with others working towards a rights-centred culture shift for young people.</li></ul> This training is suitable for Learning Communities, Alternative Provisions, Forest Schools or Home Ed collectives who are working towards a self-directed and consent-based culture.
