Come along with us for a wander by the river. Full description of walkOn this walk, we will follow Curlew Road down to the River Don. From here, we will take a short detour down to Jarrow Slake for some great views across the Tyne. We will then follow the River Don towards St Paul's church. Look out for a large variety of wildfowl on the water including mute swans and egrets. Jarrow Slake and River Don (walking for wellbeing)

Jarrow Focus Library

After leaving the library, we'll head towards St Bede's Church before taking a quiet route through the streets and houses. Our path will pop out into the fields at the back of Jarrow C of E Primary School. Here we will walk west towards Campbell Park and down to Bede's Well, an ancient water source named after the famous Jarrow monk who reputedly discovered it. From Jarrow Focus, we'll head south towards the River Don. Ducking under the A19, we'll follow a lovely path west through the trees, walking between the river and Jarrow Cemetery. In spring, you will see many trees in blossom along this route. After crossing Springwell Road, we'll continue walking through parkland before turning north back to Jarrow town centre. Jarrow South Circular walk (Walking for wellbeing)

This is a fantastic little walk that will take us through the park at Jarrow Hall, along the River Don and into Jubilee Wood. We will follow some of the footpaths around the woodland; look out for some celebrity planted trees on your way through! After crossing a small footbridge over the Don, we'll walk along a path on the river's north bank before taking a quiet route back up to the town centre. <ul><li>Difficulty:&nbsp;Easy</li></ul> <ul><li>Time:&nbsp;1 hour</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance:&nbsp;2 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route:&nbsp;74 ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain:&nbsp;Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) for much of the walk. Jubilee Wood walk (walking for wellbeing)

This walk will take us through Carr-Ellison Park before heading south along leafy pathways to reach Pelaw Quarry Nature Reserve. A former brickworks, the reserve is now home to grassland, woods and a large pond which serves as habitat to a large variety of plants, birds and insects.&nbsp; After leaving the reserve, we'll turn north to head back up to the library, as always, sticking to green spaces, quiet streets and parks where possible. <ul><li>Difficulty: Moderate</li></ul> <ul><li>Time: 1.5 to 2 hours</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance: 3.5 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route: 43ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain: Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) through the town. Some rough gravel paths through the nature reserve. Pelaw Quarry Nature Reserve walk (Walking for wellbeing)

Hebburn Library

After leaving the library, we will head along the main road just a short way before turning left and heading down towards King George's Field and the riverbank. We will then walk through the beautiful Hebburn Riverside Park, while taking in some long views up and down the Tyne. Our path will take us up to Bill Quay Community Farm; look out for ducks, geese, Boer Goats, Pot Bellied Pigs and alpacas! Bill Quay Community Farm (walking for wellbeing)

This little ramble will take us down to the sea front where we will follow the path along the promenade, past the Weebles and up to the Herd Groyne Lighthouse. We will then follow the riverside walk back to the town centre. It you're lucky, you may get a close-up view of a passing ship. Meet at The Word&nbsp;&nbsp; FREE simply come along on the day. <ul><li>Difficulty: Easy</li></ul> <ul><li>Time: 1 hour 25 mins</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance: 3.3 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route: 176 ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain: Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) throughout the walk. There are some moderately steep paths within the South Marine Park.</li></ul> <ul><li>Steps: There are large sets of steps leading up into the North Marine Park and walking down to the riverside path. Come along for a friendly chat as we take a stroll through the town. After leaving the library, we'll head towards St Bede's Church before taking a quiet route through the streets and houses. Come and meet some new faces on this lovely wee walk around Hebburn. Full description of walkOn leaving the library, we will head past the Metro station before turning left through some quiet streets down to the riverside. In the riverside park, we will follow the paths westward taking in the majestic views of the mighty Tyne. Hebburn Riverside Park (walking for wellbeing)

We will meet as normal at Hebburn Library. From here, we will walk down to the metro station to travel across to Jarrow.&nbsp;Please bring appropriate fare or a travel card.From Jarrow Metro station, we will head towards Jarrow Focus, before following a path down to the River Tyne. We will then join the River Don and follow it past St Paul's Monastery, Jarrow Bridge and down into Jubilee Wood. From here, the path will take us under the A19, along the edge of Jarrow Cemetery and across to West Park. From here, it is only a short walk back to the metro station. This is a great bimble taking in some of the best green spaces around Jarrow. Moreover, you will get the chance to see a variety of wildfowl on the rivers. <ul><li>Difficulty:&nbsp;Easy</li></ul> <ul><li>Time:&nbsp;1 hour 40 minutes (for the walk); Jarrow is only a few minutes from Hebburn on the Metro</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance:&nbsp;4 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route:&nbsp;180 ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain:&nbsp;Most of the walk is on good footpaths of tarmac or concrete. Jarrow Circular via St Paul's and Jubilee Wood (walking for wellbeing)

This super walk will take us past St Hilda's Church and although it cuts through the town, it will follow some surprisingly quiet footpaths. We will walk along the side of Westoe Cemetery before crossing over into Bents Park.Then, upon reaching the South Marine Park, we'll walk to the top level, above the bandstand and 'Park Ladies'. Here we will be rewarded with some lovely views over the harbour and out to sea. To finish, we'll take a quiet route back to the town centre. <ul><li>Difficulty: Easy</li></ul> <ul><li>Time: 1 hour 10 mins</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance: 2.3 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route: 96ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain: Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) throughout the walk. Westoe Cemetery and Bents Park walk (Walking for wellbeing)

This pleasant walk will take us down to St John's Church and through Carr-Ellison Park. Campbell Park walk (Walking for wellbeing)

This walk will take us through Carr-Ellison Park before heading south to join the popular Bowes Railway Path. The path will take us out into open country before we turn right into the Pelaw Quarry Nature Reserve. Here we'll enjoy wandering the paths through the woods and by the lake, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way. Part of the track also rises enough to give some excellent views to the south on a clear day. After leaving the park, we'll turn north to head back up to the library, as always, sticking to green spaces and quiet streets where possible. <ul><li>Difficulty:&nbsp;Moderate</li></ul> <ul><li>Time:&nbsp;1 hour 50 mins</li></ul> <ul><li>Distance:&nbsp;4.3 miles</li></ul> <ul><li>Total height climbed along the route:&nbsp;116 ft</li></ul> <ul><li>Terrain:&nbsp;Good footpaths (concrete or tarmac) through the town but there are some rougher paths on earth of gravel through the nature reserve where it can be quite muddy in places. This great walk will lead us firstly down to the banks of the Don via Jarrow Hall. We will follow the river around the back of St Paul's Church and Monastery along a lovely quiet path through the trees.
