Through the Trees CIC

Through the Trees CIC, is a not-for-profit organisation supporting individuals and groups to benefit from improvement to or prevention of, physical and mental health issues through nature-based interventions including forest bathing, forest therapy, woodcraft and expressive arts. We provide one off and multi session events and programmes at locations throughout the North East for members of the public, charities, organisations and businesses.

Great news - your place is booked on the Guided Forest Bathing Walk at Durham Botanic Garden! Here’s some information to help you prepare; <ul><li>Location:&nbsp;Durham Botanic Garden,&nbsp;Hollingside Lane&nbsp;,&nbsp;South Road,&nbsp;Durham,&nbsp;DH1 3TN&nbsp;(if using SatNav or other map apps for directions enter&nbsp;‘Durham&nbsp;University Botanic Garden, Hollingside Lane’)</li><li>Meet:&nbsp;At&nbsp;10.15am for a 10.30am start in the Botanic Garden car park, just off Hollingside Lane at the Cafe/Visitor Centre.&nbsp;If you use What3words the location reference is&nbsp;///bunk.traps.plants</li><li>Duration:&nbsp;10.30am - 1.00pm&nbsp;</li><li>Directions:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.durham.ac.uk/things-to-do/venues/botanic-garden/visit/getting-here/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.durham.ac.uk/things-to-do/venues/botanic-garden/visit/getting-here/</a>&nbsp;When you come off South Road onto Hollingside Lane it may feel like you have gone the wrong way as it takes you through Durham&nbsp;University campus on a narrow road past a number of college residential buildings. Stick with it and you will&nbsp;eventually get to the Botanic Garden car park on your right.&nbsp;</li><li>Entrance Fee: There is a small entrance fee for the garden which is not included in the price of your event ticket. You can pay for entrance into the garden in the Visitor Centre on arrival. Bring your waterproofs just incase!</li><li>Bring a bottle of water with you in a small bag/rucksack so you can stay hydrated.&nbsp;</li><li>We will be sitting and standing at some points for 10-15mins at a time - a waterproof&nbsp;sit mat will be provided.&nbsp;</li><li>Some hammocks will be available for use during our 'sit spot' towards the end of our session. Blankets will also be available for all.</li><li>The walk is usually less than 1mile and we will do it at a gentle pace - there are sections that are stepped, some muddy paths and sloped area</li><li>Cancellation:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">In the event of a cancellation or rescheduling of the event by Through the Trees, ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to reschedule, a gift voucher or a full refund.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">In the event ticket holders need to cancel a place at an event, please notify Through the Trees via email stating your full name and the date and title of the event that you were booked on to attend.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">For cancellations made with more than 72 hours notice, rescheduling, a gift voucher or a full refund will be issued.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">In the event of failure to attend or cancellations by ticket holders within 72 hours of an event, Through the Trees is under no obligation to refund payment by money, voucher or transfer bookings.</li><li>This event is aimed at ages 18+.</li><li>Tickets are limited to 12nr places. At a time of year when many humans seem to be frantic, would you like to take inspiration from nature and slow down, pause for a moment and appreciate the magic of midwinter? Celebrate the simultaneous ending and beginning as the year draws to its dark close and the new year is born. Forest Bathing or 'Shinrin-yoku' is a practice that involves immersing in a forest environment to enhance physical and mental well-being. This practice has gained attention for its numerous health benefits, supported by scientific evidence. Benefits include stress reduction, enhanced immune function, improved mental health and cardiovascular improvements (inc. lowering blood pressure and heart rate). This is a simple yet powerful way to enhance your well-being. Join our guide Kirstie, from Through the Trees CIC, for a slow, mindful walk, inspired by Forest Bathing, to explore nature connection through the senses and experience the healing power of the natural environment. This experience will include; <ul><li>Grounding and breathwork</li><li>Nature connection activities</li><li>Eco art or a creative craft</li><li>Sit spot: time to just 'be' in nature (hammocks will be available)</li><li>Closing circle and tea gathering</li><li>Foraged tea, homemade cake and snacks</li></ul> The walk is approx. 1 mile. Paths are generally good although are quite steep in parts with some steps in places. There is a small entrance fee for the garden which is not included in the price of your event ticket.
