Through the Trees CIC

Through the Trees CIC, is a not-for-profit organisation supporting individuals and groups to benefit from improvement to or prevention of, physical and mental health issues through nature-based interventions including forest bathing, forest therapy, woodcraft and expressive arts. We provide one off and multi session events and programmes at locations throughout the North East for members of the public, charities, organisations and businesses.

Great news - your place is booked on the Guided Forest Bathing Walk at Gosforth Nature Reserve! Here’s some information to help you prepare; <ul><li>Location:&nbsp;Gosforth Nature Reserve, Lake Lodge,&nbsp;Salters Lane,&nbsp;Gosforth,&nbsp;NE3 5EP</li><li>Meet:&nbsp;At&nbsp;10.15am for a 10.30am start at the entrance, just off Salter's Lane, located next to the Lake Lodge, the home of the Reserve Warden. The entrance is signposted.&nbsp;If you use What3words the location reference is&nbsp;https://w3w.co/visa.nods.export</li><li>Duration:&nbsp;10.30am - 1.00pm&nbsp;</li><li>Directions:&nbsp;The reserve can be reached using the following postcode in your Sat Nav: NE3 5EP. The reserve is not signposted, and the entrance is easily missed but there are roundabouts at either end of the road for you to retrace your steps! There is car parking outside the reserve entrance or on Gosforth Park Way road opposite the Greggs factory.</li><li>Entrance Fee: There is a small entrance free but this will be wavered for this event.</li><li>Parking:&nbsp;There is parking next to the reserve entrance, on Old Salter's Lane, for around 20 cars. If the layby parking is full, free street parking is available at the northern end of Gosforth Park Way</li><li>Toilets:&nbsp;There are multiple toilets at the reserve. Toilet facilities on site include an ecoloo, located on the main path to the South of the reserve, as well as gendered toilets accessible from inside the Field Station and a gender-neutral toilet accessible from the exterior of the Field Station.</li><li>Wear warm clothes and appropriate footwear for walking. Bring your waterproofs just incase!</li><li>Bring a bottle of water with you in a small bag/rucksack so you can stay hydrated.&nbsp;</li><li>We will be sitting and standing at some points for 10-15mins at a time - a waterproof&nbsp;sit mat will be provided.&nbsp;</li><li>The walk is approx. 1.6 miles and we will do it at a gentle pace - there are some muddy paths and tree roots on paths.</li><li>Cancellation:</li><li class="ql-indent-1">In the event of a cancellation or rescheduling of the event by Through the Trees, ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to reschedule.</li><li class="ql-indent-1">In the event ticket holders need to cancel a place at an event, please notify Through the Trees via email stating your full name and the date and title of the event that you were booked on to attend.</li><li>This event is aimed at ages 18+.</li><li>Tickets are limited to 10nr places. We understand how stressful it can be. Would you like to take a pause? How about taking inspiration from nature, slowing down and pausing for a moment as Spring prepares to emerge? Join Kirstie, founder of Through the Trees, for a slow, guided walk through the beautiful Gosforth Nature Reserve - a haven for wildlife on the outskirts of Newcastle. Our walk will be inspired by Forest Bathing or 'Shinrin-yoku' - a practice that involves immersing in a forest environment to enhance physical and mental well-being. This practice has gained attention for its numerous health benefits, supported by scientific evidence. Benefits include stress reduction, enhanced immune function, improved mental health and cardiovascular improvements (inc. lowering blood pressure and heart rate). This is a simple yet powerful way to enhance your well-being. Join Kirstie to explore nature connection through the senses and experience the healing power of the natural environment. This experience will include; <ul><li>Grounding and breathwork</li><li>Nature connection activities</li><li>Eco art or a creative craft</li><li>Sit spot: time to just 'be' in nature</li><li>Closing circle and tea gathering</li><li>Foraged tea, homemade cake and snacks</li></ul> The walk is approx. 1.6 miles. The trails are unsurfaced and can be uneven. There are some wooden boardwalks and bridges in damp areas. During October - June paths may be muddy or slippery so walking boots or wellies are highly recommended. The nature reserve is special because of its large size and its variety of wildlife. Its so important it is called an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) which means it is protected. In exceptional weather conditions the reserve may close. There is parking next to the reserve entrance for around 20 cars.
