Meet the Thames21 River Restoration and Engagement teams, learn about the improvement works underway, and discover how local volunteers, the Friends of Harvington with support from Bromley and idverde teams are helping to bring the river back to life. Explore how we’re working to improve the river’s health through hands-on activities and take the opportunity to share your thoughts with the team. Activities include litter picking in the stream and surrounding space and clearing vegetation. <h2>Chstnuts Field Wetland: Understanding your local wetland </h2> Location: Walthamstow, Jewel RdDate: Wednesday 10th and Wednesday 17th September (please attend both sessions).Time: 6pm - 8pmContact: Felicity Rhodes: felicity.rhodes@thames21.org.uk Thames21 are running a bespoke training event on Wednesday 10th and Wednesday 17th September. We will be looking at how to identify the vital signs of a healthy river and how SuDS connect to healthy rivers. There will be a specific focus on the Chestnuts Field Wetland project. Trainee’s that complete this course will:<ul><li>Have a greater understanding of what affects the health of a river beyond the visible litter pollution.</li><li>Understand the benefits of SuDS and how they link to healthy river systems.</li></ul> Please sign up If you wish to attend as spaces are limited. I will email all signed up attendees with more details in due course. Discover your local wetland in Northbrook Park, Lewisham. Following the exciting wetlands and stream restoration at Northbrook Park delivered by Lewisham Council and Glendale, environmental charity Thames21 is hosting a series of volunteering sessions and free, family-friendly events by the wetlands. This project supports the local community’s vision for the Grove Park area, including the creation of the Railway Children Urban National Park, a unique green space celebrating nature, heritage, and community. Thames21 free events:<ul><li>The practical volunteering days will focus on hands on habitat maintenance to help maintain the wetlands.</li><li>Family-friendly events will encourage people of all ages to spend time by the wetlands enjoying free activities provided by Thames21.
