At CWVA, our vision is championing the community sector – building trust, influencing, inspiring.

We work with community organisations, as well as partners in other sectors, across west Cheshire.

Our staff have extensive knowledge and skills to help community sector organisations thrive, supporting with things like governance, good practice, volunteering, funding, training, networking and more.

This free first aid workshop aims to empower learners with basic first aid skills essential for the workplace. This workshop is unaccredited but there will be a certificate of attendance.

Strategies for Recruiting &amp; Retaining Your VolunteersThis session covers a range of topics, including:<ol><li>Understanding Volunteer Motivation: Explore the various reasons why individuals choose to volunteer and learn how to tailor recruitment efforts to appeal to different motivations.</li><li>Effective Recruitment Techniques: Discover innovative strategies for attracting volunteers, from leveraging social media and online platforms to hosting community events and networking opportunities.</li><li>Volunteer Screening and Onboarding: Learn best practices for screening potential volunteers to ensure a good fit with the organisation's mission and values.</li><li>Engagement and Recognition: Explore ways to keep volunteers engaged and motivated over the long term, including providing meaningful opportunities for skill development, offering regular feedback, and acknowledging their contributions.</li><li>Retention Strategies: Identify common challenges that lead to volunteer attrition and learn proactive approaches to address them. Improving mental health outcomes for our under-served communities. This is the second engagement event organised by Positive Mental Health, a project of Cheshire West Mental Health Alliance. <h4><a href="https://cwva.org.uk/positivementalhealthforus/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Positive Mental Health for Us</a> is a project which aims to improve mental health outcomes for under-served communities in Cheshire West.</h4> <h4>Eight member organisations of Cheshire West Mental Health Alliance are collaborating on the project to:</h4><ul><li>gather lived and professional experience</li><li>collect and publish information on each sub-population covering demographics, mental health challenges, barriers to accessing help, available provision and unmet need</li><li>open up a conversation with mental health practitioners and commissioners about improving service provision</li></ul> <h4>At this event, you will have a chance to:</h4><ul><li>learn from lived and professional experience</li><li>contribute your insights, questions and suggestions</li><li>access the published resource on its launch day</li></ul> <h4>The eight under-served communities included in this project are:</h4><ul><li>Asylum seekers / refugees</li><li>Gypsy / Traveller / Roma</li><li>Polish Community</li><li>LGBTQIA+</li><li>People with autism</li><li>People with ADHD</li><li>People with significant sight loss</li><li>People with significant hearing loss</li></ul>
