Cheshire West Voluntary Action

At CWVA, our vision is championing the community sector – building trust, influencing, inspiring.

We work with community organisations, as well as partners in other sectors, across west Cheshire.

Our staff have extensive knowledge and skills to help community sector organisations thrive, supporting with things like governance, good practice, volunteering, funding, training, networking and more.

CWVA will be hosting a series of Volunteer Managers Network Meetings throughout 2025. These meetings are open to staff AND volunteers, community sector OR public sector, who are involved in recruiting, managing, and coordinating volunteers within their organisation. They are a key chance to network, learn from one another, and share information about what is happening within the sector.&nbsp; In alignment with the <a href="https://cwva.org.uk/visionforvolunteering/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cheshire West Vision for Volunteering (2025-2030)</a>, each meeting will focus on ONE of the Vision's FIVE themes.&nbsp; This meeting will focus on the theme: 'volunteering is EXPERIMENTAL'. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available throughout.

This session examines how unconscious bias influences decision-making, interactions, and workplace culture in ways we may not even realise. This session will explore the concept of unconscious bias, its impact on professional and personal relationships, and strategies to mitigate its effects. This session aims to create a more equitable and diverse environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

Brew and Tucker Frodsham 

This sessions aims to equip people with the knowledge to feel confident in identifying the signs and symptoms of cancer. It will challenge cancer myths that often distorts our understanding and present how we can positively contribute to making ourselves as healthy as possible.

This is a short session aimed to raise your general awareness about mental health. Over the morning session we will look at<ul><li>What is mental health?</li><li>What are some common mental illnesses?</li><li>What are some signs that might mean someone needs support with their mental health?</li><li>How can we support someone who is experiencing mental ill health?</li><li>What can we do to help challenge the stigma around mental ill health?</li><li>How can I support my own mental health and wellbeing?</li></ul>

CWVA and Chester Zoo staff will then walk with attendees to the Mottershead Suite. Please be advised that this is a 5-10 minute walk through the zoo, including some gentle slopes.

West Cheshire Food Partnership meeting where we will hear updates from each sub-group lead on their respective areas. In addition, the meeting will also include awareness training delivered by Cheshire West and Chester Council's Refugee and Asylum Seeker Team (RAS). This will take place approximately 11am to 12pm.
