At East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy C.I.C We provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where people can connect with horses to promote emotional growth, self-awareness and wellbeing. 
We work with individuals and groups of all ages, offering Equine Assisted Therapy and Equine Assisted Learning sessions designed to support mental health, personal development, and education. Our sessions are trauma-informed, person-centred, and facilitated by qualified practitioners who combine psychological knowledge with a deep understanding of horse behaviour.

Our services include:
🐴 Equine Assisted Therapy – 1:1 and group sessions supporting mental health, trauma recovery, confidence, and emotional regulation.
🌱 Equine Assisted Learning – experiential learning sessions developing skills such as communication, teamwork, resilience, and self-awareness.
🧘 Mindfulness with Animals – calming sessions focused on relaxation, presence, and grounding.
🌻 ASDAN Accredited Courses – including Animal Care and Gardening, combining practical skills with personal development.
💬 Counselling with Horses – blending traditional counselling approaches with the therapeutic presence of horses.

All our sessions are non-riding, meaning no previous horse experience is needed. The focus is on building relationships and understanding through interaction, observation, and teamwork with the horses.

Working with HAF during the Christmas Holiday we will be providing an Equine Assisted Learning Session.
🐴 What Happens in an Equine Assisted Learning Session
An Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) session involves structured, hands-on activities with horses that help participants develop life skills in a fun, engaging way. Each session is facilitated by trained practitioners who guide reflection and discussion throughout the process.

Activities might include:
Leading horses through obstacle courses
Observing herd behaviour and discussing communication styles
Working together to solve challenges as a team
Grooming, care tasks, or mindfulness exercises around the horses

Through these experiences, participants learn about:
Communication and listening
Emotional awareness and regulation
Confidence and decision-making
Empathy, boundaries, and trust
Problem-solving and teamwork

Horses respond to human behaviour and emotions in the moment, providing honest, non-judgmental feedback that helps individuals reflect, grow, and build self-confidence in a unique and powerful way.

The Session will run from 10am till 2pm. A picnic lunch and snacks will be provided. We look forward to seen you all. 

Equine Assisted Learning Session – Booking Information Thank you for your interest in our Equine Assisted Learning sessions at East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy C.I.C. Important Information: Please dress appropriately for the weather – it can be cold, muddy, or hot with limited shade. We have a portable composting toilet available for use. For safety, some areas of the yard are restricted and clearly marked. Due to the nature of the activities children must be responsible and happy to listen to instruction. Adults are allowed to stay with children. 1 to 1 support is available but must be arranged in advance. If you have any questions or special requirements, please feel free to get in touch.
