Gift of Living Donation

At Gift of Living Donation (GOLD), we are dedicated to transforming the lives of Black patients with end-stage kidney disease by ensuring they have equitable access to living donor kidney transplantation. Our mission focuses on reducing the need for long-term dialysis through culturally relevant and community-led support. We provide tailored resources and information to empower patients and their families, facilitating early conversations about living donation. Our innovative Phone Buddy Scheme connects patients with peers who have lived experience, offering a supportive and relatable approach to discussing living donation.

We also engage the community through initiatives like the Black Living Donor Choir, which raises awareness about living donation within the Black community through the power of music. By collaborating with healthcare professionals and individuals with lived experience, we aim to change perceptions and encourage more people to consider becoming living donors. Our commitment to improving access to living donation not only enhances the quality of life for kidney patients but also promotes a sustainable treatment option that can help reduce the carbon footprint associated with dialysis. Together, we are making a significant impact in our community, one conversation at a time.
