Kilburn State Of Mind

Kilburn State of Mind is a community charity tackling poverty, social and financial
exclusion, and poor mental health. Founded on the belief in the power of music, we provide
free access to music learning, singing, and creative opportunities for those who cannot afford
them. We also support children, families, adults and older people through food, education,
well-being activities, volunteering and a welcoming hub — building resilience, confidence
and cohesion across our community.

Join us every Tuesday for our free after school club for KS2 children. It’s a space for children to have fun, learn new skills, and create together! We offer a variety of activities each week – from games and drama to crafts, and outdoor projects. This term we are focusing on Nature and our Environment, and we will spend most of our time gardening and creating nature and recucled art projects. We offer a warm meal at the beginning of each session and we explore nutritional education, particularly with growing our vegetables and herbs in the garden. The club is free, but places are limited, so please make sure to let us know if your child can’t attend. This helps us keep the group running smoothly and offer spaces to families on the waiting list. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cook and Connect offers a space for children to explore a variery of recipes, ingredients, cooking skills and flavours! They will use herbs and vegetables for the Playhut's garden and learn where our food comes from, as well as how it helps our body to grow and stay strong and healthy. Here are the details: <ul><li>every Thursday from 23rd April </li><li>16.00- 18.00</li><li>at the Playhut, NW6 4LB- inside Kilburn Grange park, across the tennis court</li></ul> This is a free drama and storytelling course for girls in years 5-8 to explore stories, myths and drama as a way to build confidence, emotional awareness and connection with others. <ul><li>Every Thursday, 16.00- 18.00</li><li>starting 23rd April 2026</li><li>at the Playhut, inside Kilburn Grange park, NW6 4LB</li></ul> Myth to Me is a small-group creative storytelling project for girls aged 9–13, (Year 5-8) using drama, myth and imagination to build confidence, emotional awareness and connection with others. Through theatre games, movement, mask work and creative activities, participants will explore different characters and stories, learning to recognise emotions, express themselves and work collaboratively in a supportive environment. The group will move from exploring shared myths and stories to creating their own, inspired by their experiences, interests and the important women in their lives. The project encourages girls to trust themselves, their ideas and their voices, while developing creativity, communication and a stronger sense of identity. All sessions are facilitated by a lead drama practitioner with an assistant and include light nutritious snacks. By the end of the project, participants will:<ul><li>Have increased emotional awareness</li><li>Learn practical self-regulation tools</li><li>Build confidence and self-expression</li><li>Strengthen peer relationships and trust</li><li>Explore identity and role models</li><li>Feel more embodied, connected and resilient</li></ul>
