<h1>South Tyneside Parkinson's Cafe Drop-in</h1> Join us in an informal setting in the cafe at South Shields Museum for conversation, laughter, friendship and mutual support. We don't have any formal activities for this social meeting, we just like to catch up over a cuppa. We welcome people with Parkinson's, family members, partners, carers, and friends.Once a month on the first Monday of the month at 12pm. Free to attend, just buy your own refreshments. Gentle exercise classes for people with Parkinson's that can be done sitting or standing and can be adapted to cater for all abilities. The class is run by an experienced exercise teacher and specialises in physical activity for people with long term health conditions and those over 50. The class aims to build and maintain mobility and confidence.Carers are welcome to join in, but priority is given to people with Parkinson's. The cost is £3 per session. As a Parkinson's Local Adviser, I am here to support you in various capacities: Offering initial guidance and resources for those newly diagnosed with Parkinson's.Sharing effective strategies for managing the everyday implications of the condition.Providing emotional support to help you navigate the challenges of Parkinson's.Informing you about services and support networks available within your community.Clarifying your entitlements and advocating for your rights.Assisting with the benefits application process and other financial concerns.Supporting employment issues. Extending support in any other areas of your life that may be affected by Parkinson's. Support is available for anyone living with Parkinson's as well as their family members.
