At Youth Focus North West, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of young people across the region through the power and principles of youth work. We build partnerships, strengthen networks, provide training, and create meaningful opportunities for young people to have their voices heard and shape the decisions that affect them.

Our mission is to champion high-quality youth work, connect people and organisations, and open doors for collaboration that helps young people and communities thrive. By supporting effective practice and amplifying youth voice, we aim to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people across the North West.

We work closely with a wide range of partners — from local groups to national organisations — to enhance youth work practice and influence policy. Our initiatives enable young people to participate confidently in decision-making at local, regional, national and international levels. Together, we’re building a stronger, fairer region where young people are supported, skilled, and empowered to create positive change.

With the Government announcement that it plans to lower the voting age to 16 for all UK elections, the need for high quality political education and youth engagement has never been greater. As young people prepare for their first opportunity to vote, youth workers and partners play a crucial role in supporting them to understand democracy, participate confidently, and navigate political processes. Using the internationally recognised Lundy Model of Participation as a framework, it focuses on moving from simply listening to genuine collaboration, ensuring young people’s voices shape the services and decisions that affect them. During the training you will learn how to create the space, voice, audience, and influence needed for meaningful participation. <h3>Why this training matters</h3>This course is delivered as part of Synergy, a bold five-year programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to transform how organisations involve and listen to children and young people, using their voices to shape the services they rely on.&nbsp;With endorsement from Professor Laura Lundy, who developed the internationally recognised Lundy Model of Participation, our vision is for the model to become the framework for best practice across the North West and beyond. Using the internationally recognised Lundy Model of Participation as a framework, it focuses on moving from simply listening to genuine collaboration, ensuring young people’s voices shape the services and decisions that affect them. During the training you will learn how to create the space, voice, audience, and influence needed for meaningful participation. <h3>Why this training matters</h3>This course is delivered as part of Synergy, a bold five-year programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to transform how organisations involve and listen to children and young people, using their voices to shape the services they rely on.&nbsp;With endorsement from Professor Laura Lundy, who developed the internationally recognised Lundy Model of Participation, our vision is for the model to become the framework for best practice across the North West and beyond. <h1>Cared For Network</h1> Part of the Youth Focus North West Network DayAbout our Network Day Join us for our Youth Focus North West (YFNW) Network Day, a quarterly gathering bringing all of our established networks together under one roof for one day. Each network will meet in the same venue but run as separate, dedicated sessions at different times. Attendees are invited to book onto the network(s) most relevant to their role, interests, or area of practice, with the option to stay and connect with colleagues from across the region before or after their session. With multiple networks running throughout the day, you are welcome to book onto as many as are relevant to your role. This format is designed to strengthen relationships, reduce duplication, and make it easier for colleagues to engage with multiple networks in one place. By hosting every network on the same day, we’re creating a more accessible, efficient, and energising way for partners to stay connected and informed. YFNW Network Day is open to colleagues already involved in our existing networks, as well as those who may wish to join for the first time.
