However, things go awry when Tybalt Capulet kills Romeo’s best friend Mercutio in a duel which Romeo avenges and is then banished. After Juliet feigns death to avoid marrying Paris, Romeo returns to Verona missing an important letter in transit, and mistakenly believes Juliet has died; leading to the play’s tragic conclusion.
