Leo's supports the well-being of families who require neonatal care in the North East of England. Our focus is on improving mental health of the entire family from birth, until they no longer need Leo's. We do this by offering community support work to reduce social isolation, we have dedicated peer support, a counselling service, vCreate and heartbeat bears. Also founder of Neonatal MH Week.

Step into the world of The Snail and the Whale through an EYFS-centred child development experience. Inspired by the much-loved story, this session supports early learning through sensory exploration, movement, and shared storytelling. Children are encouraged to explore a range of textures, sounds, and visual elements inspired by land and sea, supporting communication and language, physical development, and early understanding of the world. Through open-ended, child-led experiences, children can explore at their own pace, developing curiosity, confidence, and early problem-solving skills. The carefully prepared environment supports the prime areas of the EYFS while also introducing themes of friendship, helping others, and exploration. Families are invited to engage together, creating meaningful shared moments and supporting learning through play inspired by imagination and story.

Swim into Commotion in the Ocean, an under the sea sensory session made for families to enjoy together. The space is filled with ocean blues, gentle inflatables, and floating bubbles that drift and pop like sea foam. Little hands can explore soft textures while watching bubbles move through the air, creating a calm and playful atmosphere. It’s a welcoming place to slow down, splash into imagination, and share some underwater fun together.

Join us every other Wednesday for our Neonatal S﻿upport Group — a relaxed, caring space where little ones can play, explore, and learn, while parents and caregivers connect, share stories, and support one another. Our group is led by Tammy, a peer mentor who truly understands the journey of life after the NICU and caring for a child with SEN. Whether you’re coming for a friendly chat, a play session, or simply a listening ear, you’ll find understanding, and community here. The Colour Run is a fun, untimed experience where participants walk, jog, or run while being showered in vibrant bursts of coloured powder along the route. It is all about community, laughter, and getting wonderfully messy as you cross the finish line covered head to toe in bright, joyful colour. Join us and raise some money!
