Leo's supports the well-being of families who require neonatal care in the North East of England. Our focus is on improving mental health of the entire family from birth, until they no longer need Leo's. We do this by offering community support work to reduce social isolation, we have dedicated peer support, a counselling service, vCreate and heartbeat bears. Also founder of Neonatal MH Week.

Step into the playful world of Dear Zoo through an EYFS-centred child development experience. Inspired by the much-loved story, this session supports early learning through sensory exploration, repetition, and interactive play. Children are encouraged to investigate a variety of textures, sounds, and surprises inspired by the animals in the story, supporting communication and language development, early physical skills, and curiosity about the world around them. Through open-ended, child-led experiences, children can explore at their own pace, building confidence, anticipation, and early problem-solving skills. The carefully prepared environment supports the prime areas of the EYFS, while also introducing concepts such as turn-taking, prediction, and emotional responses. Families are invited to engage together, creating meaningful shared moments and supporting learning through play inspired by familiar storytelling.

Soar into the Cosmic Carnival, a space themed sensory session bursting with sparkle and discovery. Shiny mirror balls, reflective streamers, and glowing, glitter filled bottles catch the light like distant stars, inviting little explorers to look, reach, and wonder. Families can explore together in a playful, welcoming space where reflections shimmer and imaginations drift into orbit. It’s a relaxed environment to slow down, share smiles, and enjoy a little cosmic magic together.

Join us every other Wednesday for our Neonatal S﻿upport Group — a relaxed, caring space where little ones can play, explore, and learn, while parents and caregivers connect, share stories, and support one another. Our group is led by Tammy, a peer mentor who truly understands the journey of life after the NICU and caring for a child with SEN. Whether you’re coming for a friendly chat, a play session, or simply a listening ear, you’ll find understanding, and community here. Introducing 'Neonatal Natter' – supportive community sessions funded by the Woodsmith Foundation. Led by our compassionate neonatal mentors, Tammy and Katie (who bring both lived experience and professional expertise in birth trauma and child development), these informal meetups offer a chance to share stories, meet others who have shared or similar experiences&nbsp;and build a vital support network.&nbsp;Whether it's coffee and cake at a local cafe or a gentle walk in the park, we provide a warm and understanding environment.&nbsp;Please use this booking link to confirm your attendance at this free 'Neonatal Natter' session so we know how many to expect. It’s a welcoming place to slow down, splash into imagination, and share some underwater fun together.
