Do you have a learning disability and would like to learn how to cook healthy food on a budget? If so, why not join our accessible face-to-face cooking course. Let's Get Cooking will support you to cook healthy meals from scratch, and empower you to recognise the link between eating well and your physical and mental health. Our five-week course will allow you to gain confidence and skills to purchase the ingredients needed to create meals and snacks that are affordable, healthy and enjoyable. During the course, we will cover:<ul><li>The importance of healthy eating</li><li>Basic cookery skills</li><li>Food hygiene</li><li>Food storage</li><li>The importance of a store cupboard</li><li>How to budget</li><li>How to meal plan</li></ul> All equipment and ingredients are provided and carers are more than welcome to attend with you. Everyone who completes the course will receive a spice kit, recipe book and £20 voucher for a supermarket of your choice. All are welcome to book on, although priority will be given to participants living and/or working in the following areas: West Kingsdown, Fawkham, Swanley, New Ash Green, Hextable, Eynsford, Farningham, Crockenhill, Hartley, Dartford and Gravesham. To book on you must be able to attend all five sessions on Thursday 26th March and 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd April.

The Pavilion 

<h1>Hextable Lunch Club</h1> Older residents can come along to our free lunch club in Hextable for hot food and drinks and a chat with others. The monthly club offers a delicious hot main meal with&nbsp;dessert&nbsp;as well as tea, coffee and a chance to socialise. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Sevenoaks District Council are hosting a week of free events from Monday 5th May to Friday 9th May. From singing and stories, to tea dances and themed cooking sessions, there's something for everyone! Join us for a free outdoor concert and afternoon tea as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Enjoy an afternoon of live music from the West Kent Concert Band, as well as songs from D'Vine Singers, Sounds Familiar and Nouveau Lounge. They'll also be a traditional afternoon tea with delicious scones, sandwiches and sweet treats. Set in the picturesque St Clere Estate in Kemsing, this nostalgic celebration will honour the spirit of victory, remembrance and community. Bring your flags, don your best vintage attire and toast to history with a cup of tea as we celebrate this momentous occasion together!

Learn how to cook healthy meals from scratch with our FREE face-to-face cooking course starting Wednesday 19th February 2025. Our five-week course will help you prepare cost-effective, nutritious and delicious meals, whilst learning how to budget and reduce food waste. You'll gain confidence through hands-on cooking experience, creating dishes from stir frys to pasta and soups to curries. All equipment and ingredients will be provided and everyone who completes the course will receive a FREE recipe book and apron. Everyone is welcome to book on, although priority will be given to participants living and/or working in the following areas: West Kingsdown, Fawkham, Swanley, New Ash Green, Hextable, Eynsford, Farningham, Crockenhill and Hartley. To book on you must be able to attend all five sessions on Wednesday 19th, 26th February and 5th, 12th and 19th March.

Experience the ingenuity and resourcefulness of wartime cooking as we recreate delicious meals using authentic ration-era ingredients. You will learn how to make hearty dishes, creative substitutes and classic comfort foods that kept families fed during WWII. Whether you're a history buff or just love a culinary challenge, this hands-on session will transport you to the past - aprons on and spoons at the ready!
