What is the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF)?The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is a Department for Education-funded provision that provides free food and clubs over the Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays. The programme is open to the thousands of local children who are registered for benefits-related free school meals. In Tower Hamlets, HAF has ran since 2020 and has provided free food and activities for thousands of children.

Children who are claiming benefits-related free school meals will be able to access a free place a holiday activity club over the Christmas school holiday.Open to eligible children and young people aged 4 to 16 years, all programmes provide:•      free, nutritious and tasty food•      fun physical activity sessions•      a wide range of other exciting activities to suit different ages and personalities•      opportunities to learn more about food and nutrition for children and their families.

Please note: benefits-related free school meals are different from universal free school meals provided in all Tower Hamlets schools. If you are unsure if your child is signed up for benefits-related free school meals, please check with your child’s school.

How do I sign up my child?If your child is eligible for a free place at a HAF club, you would have received a HAF letter in the post. To book a free place•      Register an account with Plinth (hyperlink)•      Select your HAF club from the list of providers (hyperlink)•      Follow their registration instructions.

When registering there are two ways to prove eligibility. First, through the automatic eligibility check through the registration form by entering their name and date of birth. Second, inserting your child’s HAF Code in the registration form. This can be found at the top of your HAF letter.If you have missed out on a place at your chosen club, please check out opportunities at other clubs.
