Description

Category 1 Walk – Easy. Decent paths across different terrain that involve slight ascent and descent. Total distance is 16.6km (10.3miles). Total elevation gain is 60m.

Set off is 10am.

Overview:

Starting and finishing at Briardene Car Park, we will enjoy beautiful views, scenic paths, and historic sites as we make our way round this varied coastal and countryside trail.

Heading north from Briardene Car Park, we will stop first to explore St. Mary’s lighthouse. Depending on the tide time and the season, we may be lucky enough to see seals lazing on the rocks that surround the lighthouse. We will then continue the trail north along the coastline through to Seaton Sluice and further north along the coastal path before we head inland and then south across farmlands to Seaton Delaval Hall – a National Trust property where we will stop for packed lunch and take in this grand manor and learn about the family who once called this home.

After lunch, we will continue heading south across the fields, joining the winding path through the woods beside Seaton Burn which takes us back east towards the coast and to Briardene Car Park.

Care needs to be taken on the rougher sections, especially in wetter conditions, and along the roads.

Cost of Event:

The wellbeing walk is offered as a free event, as the ability to pay should not be a barrier to access nature in support of your health and wellbeing.

However, if you feel you are able to make a contribution to cover the costs of these walks, we would be very grateful for the offer of a donation - either in cash on the day or via bank transfer.

This will help not only cover the costs for the day but also scale up the number of walks we are able to offer.

For those able to pay, a donation of between £5-£10 per person would be great.

This can be paid in cash on the day, or via online transfer. Bank details for online transfer are:
