Description

A hands-on workshop exploring Poplar's role in the Festival of Britain 1951 facilitated by Tower Hamlets local History library.

By looking at a wide range of archive material you'll get to find out why Poplar was chosen as the site of the Live Architecture, and its significance today. Why did thousands of people travel on special busses from the Southbank to marvel at the Lansbury Estate? What else did they come to see?

By visiting Bancroft Road Library, you can also see how important historical material relating to Tower Hamlets is stored and used.
