Afterhours Acoustics

Welcome in the shorter evenings with a night of live music performances from a handful of stars in the local music scene. Afterhours Acoustics will showcase a solo set from Premium Leisure, and a special stripped-back set from Robin Bennett & friends.

Premium Leisure solo: Premium Leisure is the unfettered outlet of producer and guitarist Chris Barker. It is a home for his stash of guitar lick-laden songs, which began as a means for Chris to make music with friends. The project has evolved into a space for Chris' clunky tone-sculpting and studio explorations, while always circling back to the fundamentals: close-knit musicians making sounds together. Each Premium Leisure chapter is shaped by authenticity, with an onstage presence that can spill into something beautifully unhinged. Following the release of their debut album 'Bug Blood', Premium Leisure's upcoming EP 'Pea' will arrive later this year. Recorded and self-produced in Oxford, the record is quietly radical in its celebration of domesticity, family life, and love. Robin Bennett & friends: Oxford singer-songwriter and local legend, Robin Bennett performs a unique stripped-back set with special guests. Original founders of Truck Festival — and now Truck's Veterans and Virgins stage curators — and Wood and Septembersong festivals, Robin and the Bennett family are known for their unique musical happenings and for shaping Oxford's independent and roots music landscape. Blending indie-rock with Americana, Robin has performed with Saint Etienne, Danny & the Champions of the World, super-group Wilson Poole, and Oxford bands Dusty Sound System, Dreaming Spires, and Goldrush.

Tickets to this event includes free entry to the museum and Sounds of the City exhibition. Doors open at 6:30pm, with a chance to explore the museum before the performances start promptly at 7pm.

Access

There is step-free, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax Tower (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift to the Galleries and then a lift to the basement.

Accessible toilets are available in the Museum (close to Museum Makers) and in the Town Hall on the ground floor, before entering the Museum.
