This training is part of a range of workforce development opportunities, which aims to strengthen the VCFSE youth and play sector in Manchester by providing continued support to develop and upskill the sector.

Who is it for?

This funded training is for people who are supporting young people within Manchester City.

This training is suitable for those who are new to the sector or who have developed from being participants into volunteering and paid roles. The day is designed to provide a first insight into what makes youth work a distinctive practice and the important role it can play in the lives of young people. Suitable for those just starting on their youth work journey and wishing to develop an understanding of some of the theories and ideas surrounding this practice.

Participants will develop their understanding in the following;

• What makes youth work distinctive
• The purpose of Youth Work
• Understand the role of a youth worker
• The issues that young people face
• How to engage with young people
• Safeguarding young people in a youth work context
