Green Park and its Buildings
Thursday, October 22nd, 10.45 am, finishing at 1pm; this is a guided walk for 2 hours.
Meet at Diana Fountain
One of London’s Royal parks, Green Park stretches between Piccadilly and Buckingham Palace. Originally enclosed by King Henry VIII in the 1500s, in the following century Charles II built an ice store there, part of which is thought to still exist. The walk will view sculptures such as the Canada War Memorial, hear the story of the 1749 Temple of Peace, which was built to celebrate a war’s end but collapsed in flames, and visit the mysterious tree ring called The Pantheon
