Adult Safeguarding Training for Volunteers
This training has been designed by a group of Voluntary, Community and social enterprise organisations to give volunteers a clear and practical introduction to adult safeguarding.
The session will help you understand what adult safeguarding is, why it matters and what your responsibilities are as a volunteer. It will explore how to recognise possible signs of abuse or neglect, what to do if you are concerned about an adult and who you can speak to for advice and support.
The training will cover:
What adult safeguarding means and who may be at risk
Different types of abuse and neglect
Recognising possible signs and indicators of abuse
What to do if someone tells you about a concern
How to respond safely and appropriately to a safeguarding concern
Understanding your role and responsibilities as a volunteer
Confidentiality, information sharing and recording concerns
Where to go for further advice, support and reporting
The session is designed to be accessible to volunteers and does not assume any previous safeguarding knowledge. It will include opportunities to discuss scenarios and consider how you would respond to situations that may arise during volunteering.
