Description

From Jarrow Focus, we'll head down to the banks of the Tyne. From here, we'll join the River Don and follow it around the back of Jarrow Hall and St Pauls Monastery. Look out for a large variety of wildfowl on the river and mud banks. Our path then continues along the Don via Jubilee Wood and the edge of Jarrow Cemetery, before returning to the town centre via St Bede's Church.

  • Total height climbed along the route: 170 ft


  • Terrain: The footpaths through Jubilee Wood and close to the Don can be muddy in places. Walking shoes are recommended.


  • Steps: There is a set of 15 steps to climb after crossing Springwell Road.


  • Wheelchair accessible: No


  • Toilets: There are toilets at Jarrow Focus Library. However, there are no public toilets along the walk.


Public transport to Jarrow

Both the Jarrow Metro and bus stations are about an 8 minute walk from the library.

There is a bus stop outside Morrisons (close to Jarrow Focus) for services: 10, 11 and 26.
