Description

Category 1/2 Walk – Easy/Moderate. A selection of trial and path that involves some steep ascent and descent. Total distance is 15.3km (9.5miles). Total elevation gain is 351m.

Set off is 10am.

This is a beautiful walk that offers a mix of scenery along the coast and through farmland. There are some steep sections to the walk, and appropriate footwear is needed.

Starting and finishing at Easington Local nature reserve, we follow the paths through the reserve to Beacon Hill. We continue along the edge of Hawthorn Woodland and pass underneath Hawthorn Fence Viaduct, following the Durham Coastal Path through Nose’s Point. When we reach Seaham Harbour Dock, we will stop for coffee and cake at one of the coffee shops (and a spot of sea glass hunting).

We then head back inland across farmland to Hawthorn, and back to Easington Local Nature Reserve where the walk will end.

Cost of Event:

The wellbeing walk is offered as a free event, as the ability to pay should not be a barrier to access nature in support of your health and wellbeing.

However, if you feel you are able to make a contribution to cover the costs of these walks, we would be very grateful for the offer of a donation - either in cash on the day or via bank transfer.

This will help not only cover the costs for the day but also scale up the number of walks we are able to offer.

For those able to pay, a donation of between £5-£10 per person would be great.

This can be paid in cash on the day, or via online transfer. Bank details for online transfer are:
