Description

Winter Walk & Wetland Discovery

Join us for a Winter Walk through Chestnuts Field and Lloyd Park to explore how wetlands and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) are transforming the area and helping with flood mitigation.

What can you expect?

  • Spot local wildlife thriving in these green and blue spaces.
  • Learn about the new wetland scheme and its role in creating climate resilient communities.
  • Discover how SuDS contribute to flood management and environmental sustainability.
  • Connect with neighbors and enjoy a crisp winter stroll and a mug of hot chocolate after.

Location: Meet at the Spruce Hill Gate entrance of Chestnuts Field. From there, we will do a circuit around the site and continue walking to Lloyd Park before returning to the starting point.

Timings: Please arrive at 2:45pm as we aim to set off at 3 PM. The walk will take approximately one hour, after which we’ll gather to enjoy a hot drink and share ideas and thoughts about the environment.

Access Information:

Some parts of the walk will be on unpaved terrain, and the site may be muddy, so please wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. We will also be crossing roads when traveling between the parks, so care is advised. There are disabled loos located at the Town Hall but as we are doing a circuit, they will not always be nearby.

If you have any specific access requirements or questions, please contact Lula at lula.wattam@thames21.org.uk in advance so we can make necessary adjustments to ensure the event is accessible for everyone.

Come along to learn, connect, and celebrate the importance of our local green spaces. We look forward to seeing you there!
