Description

For adults parenting or caring for an adopted or looked after child/children or young person/s in the North East of England.

Join us for a FREE 6-week integrative forest therapy programme where you will experience the healing power of nature. Through guided walks, mindfulness practices, and creative activities, you will learn to connect with the natural world to improve your health and well-being.

Caring for a child with developmental trauma and complex needs can be challenging and stressful. Nature based interventions can result in a decrease in chronic stress and have a positive impact on your autonomic nervous system. This programme offers an opportunity for you to pause, re-charge and reset your nervous system. Underpinned by the principles of Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) and forest medicine, this programme is aimed at providing a pause in your week, helping you reduce the symptoms of stress and give you the tools to continue this beyond the 6 weeks.

On this programme you will;

  • connect with other parents and carers of adopted or looked after children
  • explore forest therapy
  • experience the 5 pathways to nature connection
  • learn techniques to reduce stress
  • taste foraged teas, snacks and cake
  • try woodland crafts
  • slow down and have fun!

Participants should ideally be able to attended a min. of 5 out of the 6 sessions.

Dates for sessions: Every Friday for 6 weeks including 13th, 20th, 27th Sept and 4th, 11th and 18th Oct.

Duration: 10.30 - 1.00pm.
