Description

Get stuck in with us on our newest wetland restoration project – ‘Rewilding the Rom’!

Located in The Chase Local Nature Reserve, this newly created wetland linked to the River Rom not only reduces the flood risk to the area, it also provides excellent new habitat for wetland plant and animal species, but it needs your help to get established!

During this event we will be starting to tackle the new growth of the non-native invasive plant species, Himalayan Balsam, which is springing up in the riverbank area. Himalayan Balsam weakens the river banks and shades out native plant species so it is important that we do our best to remove it. So come along and pull, snap and stomp to do your bit for the River Rom and the wetlands!

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please make sure you have weather appropriate clothing for the day. We will provide all other equipment needed for the event and we look forward to welcoming you!

This is an event designed for the community to engage the local public with the river and not for corporates. If you are interested in a bespoke corporate volunteer day. Please visit our website https://www.thames21.org.uk/get-involved-2/corporatevolunteering/
