This interactive, full-day training will help you better understand and support neurodivergent children and young people in your setting. Drawing on real-life examples and practical tools, we’ll explore what neurodiversity is, key conditions such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia, and how behaviour can be understood as communication rather than “challenging.” You’ll gain a clear overview of the legal context, including the Equality Act 2010 and reasonable adjustments, and consider how to support children with or without a formal diagnosis.
Across the day, we’ll look at lived experience, masking, sensory processing differences, and the realities of meltdowns and shutdowns, using reflective activities to build empathy and insight. You’ll leave with concrete strategies for de-escalation and co-regulation, ideas for creating predictable, inclusive environments, and the chance to apply learning to real-life scenarios through group discussion and problem-solving. Lunch is provided, and there will be plenty of time to connect with other practitioners and share what’s working in your own practice.
