Addressing Severe Loneliness: Shaping Solutions for Tower Hamlets

 

We are pleased to invite you to a collaborative workshop focused on addressing severe loneliness in our community. This event will bring together key stakeholders to reflect on the progress made so far, share insights from recent research findings specific to Tower Hamlets, and co-create actionable solutions for moving forward.

The workshop will give you the chance to:

  • Connect with fellow Tower Hamlets VCS, NHS and Council colleagues passionate about tackling loneliness and social isolation.
  • Shape the future of Tower Hamlets Council’s work on loneliness.
  • Access the latest data and insights on loneliness in Tower Hamlets.

 

We will have a sandwich lunch with take away boxes available.

Agenda:

Neighbourly Lab Research on Severe Loneliness in Tower Hamlets: This session will present a a summary of interviews with severely lonely residents which have just been completed this month. Neighbourly Lab, in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, has been awarded Government funding to develop the national Tackling Loneliness Hub.

 

Group Discussions: with presentations from Toynbee Hall (research on housebound residents) and the Tackling Poverty Team from Tower Hamlets Council on help available for residents who are struggling financially and are likely to be lonely. 

 

Guest facilitators on themed tables:

  • Globe Community Project - (charity working with recently-arrived refugee and migrant women and older people at risk of loneliness and isolation).
  • Age UK East London - (part of the Linkage Plus network offering social activities for 50+,befriending service, etc).
  • Carers Centre Tower Hamlets - (for adult carers (16+) who support an adult (16+) who lives in Tower Hamlets).
  • ICM Foundation CIC - Working with residents with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Toynbee Hall - Part of Linkage Plus, helping residents facing poverty and injustice.
  • TH Council Tackling Poverty team - Various financial support offers for residents, food hubs, warm hubs.

 

There will also be a stall from the NSPCC who offer a free service to support children who are experiencing loneliness.
