Description

Northumbria Police are offering a free Fraud Prevention workshop to community services in South Tyneside. Being a victim of Fraud can often lead to a huge negative impact on an individuals life, and can be hard hitting and devastating both emotionally as well as financially. This two hour workshop, called 'Don't take the bait' is presented by Officer Claire Lawson, which aims to give our community sector some knowlegde and awareness on how to prevent any future fraud attempts.


It will cover things such as:


  • What fraud is
  • Fraud stats within the UK
  • How fraudsters initiate contact (telephone, letter, web, post)
  • How you can provide barriers to fraudsters getting in through these channels
  • Types of fraud
  • Password security/online banking
  • How to protect yourselves against fraud
  • What to do if you’re a victim of Fraud
  • Reporting Fraud


This awareness session is open to any VCSE groups in South Tyneside, including staff and volunteers, who may benefit from Fraud Awareness and how to detect and protect their clients/residents (or even friends and family members) from future fraud attempts.


This training is in person, at Inspire South Tyneside's office (27 Beach Road).

Wednesday 5th August - 10am-12.
