The Apex Project is excited to offer a FREE Level 2 Award in an Introduction to Neuroscience in Early Years, designed to help you understand how young children’s brains develop and how this knowledge can improve learning, wellbeing and outcomes in early years settings.

  • Course: Level 2 Award – Introduction to Neuroscience in Early Years
  • Duration: 6 weeks, 2 days per week (Monday & Tuesday)
  • Time: 10:00am – 3:00pm
  • Start Date: 24 February 2026
  • End Date: 22 April 2026
  • Location: Online via Microsoft Teams

To take part, you must:


  • Be aged 19 or over
  • Have access to a computer or laptop
  • Have a reliable internet connection

During this course, you will study key topics including:

  • Introduction to neuroscience and how the brain develops in early childhood
  • How children learn – memory, attention and emotional development
  • The impact of attachment, relationships and environment on brain development
  • Supporting communication, language and social development
  • Understanding behaviour through a neuroscience lens
  • Supporting children’s wellbeing and mental health in early years settings
  • Inclusive practice and supporting children with additional needs
  • Applying neuroscience to everyday early years practice
