Description

Category 1/2 Walk – Easy/Moderate. A selection of trial and path that involves some ascent and descent. Total distance is 11km (6miles). Total elevation gain is 385m.

Set off is 10am.

Starting and finishing at Simonside Car Park, this is an out and back walk, with the back taking in Raven Heugh and Tosson Hill.

On the way back, as we complete the circular route, we will visit Simonside and Dove Crag.

This is a beautiful area of the Northumberland National Park with well-trodden paths - an ideal place for reflection.

The walk will take us from Simonside Car Park, and heading in an anticlockwise direction, the gradual steep path will take us to Criss Cross rock and onto Raven’s Heugh and out to Tosson Hill. The return from Tosson Hill takes us to Simonside – the highest point in the walk, with a slow descent to Dove Crag and back to Simonside car park.

At the end of the walk, there are coffee shops in nearby Rothbury which serve food and drinks.
