The Story of Fleet Street
Meet outside the City Information Centre, St Paul’s Churchyard South
Fleet Street is an ancient thoroughfare which connected London’s royal court at
Westminster with its economic centre of the City. Around 1500 printing began in
Fleet Street, and between the second half of the 19 th century and the 1980s nearly all newspapers and magazines were published there. This walk remembers famous places and people from a street that became both famous and notorious.
