Women's Rights & History Workshop

Fierce Women+ Rights and History Course explores the history you weren't taught in school. Focused on Scottish perspective.

Women's Rights: 

Do you fancy a wee game of Top Trumps to discover some amazing women+ from throughout history? How about exploring how the rights of women+ have changed over the years through interactive activities? If this sounds good to you, book on to our Fierce Women+ Herstory session to come along and find out more! 

 Childhood: 

Take a wander down memory lane with us to reminisce and discover childhood through some fun and thought-provoking interactive activities. Explore histories of traditional Scottish sweets whilst getting a wee sample or two plus get your hands on some traditional childhood toys! Book on to our Fierce Women+ Childhood session to get involved! 

Rule Breakers: 

Come along and find out more about the history of women+ who have been punished harshly by society for minor crimes or for crimes that were entirely fictional. Our Fierce Women+ Rule Breakers session explores through discussion and interactive activities the women+ sentenced to prison and those accused of witchcraft.   

Fashion and Beauty: 

How well do you know your crinoline from your bustle? Your platforms from your winklepickers? Come along to our Fierce Women+ Fashion and Beauty session and take part in some interactive activities, discussions and games to find out more about the changing fashion trends of women+ throughout history.  

Work: 

A woman’s work is never done! Our Fierce Women+ Work session discusses the jobs that were historically stereotyped as ‘women’s work’ and why they were thought of in that way. Through interactive activities and chatting together, we will explore women+ working lives and inspirational women+ who have defied the stereotypes placed on them by society.  

Cookery: 

Do you love a bit of baking or perhaps just a wee biscuit with your tea? Have you ever wondered about where that delicious biscuit or refreshing cup of tea came from? Our Fierce Women+ Cookery session might just be for you! We explore, through interactive activities and discussion, the history of our food and where it comes from. There is a baking element of this session, so be ready to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!
