Overview:

Walking around Derwent Reservoir is defined by its expansive waterside paths, peaceful forests, and moorland.

You will enjoy splendid views across the expansive Derwent Reservoir, one of England’s largest inland waters, and the second largest reservoir in the region after Kielder Water.

The reservoir is a key part of the water supply network in north east England, and is owned and managed by Northumbrian Water. It is the principal water source for Tyne and Wear, supplying 28 million gallons per day.

We start the walk from Pow Hill Country Park and head east along the shoreline, We follow the well-maintained path around the reservoir, stopping at the half-way point for lunch.

At the end of the walk, there is a coffee shop in Pow Hill Country Park to grab a coffee and cake before heading home.
