This activity is part of the Green Careers Pathway programme.
The Sustainability Exchange is a month-long celebration of ideas, inspiration and action. Across a mix of live sessions, online events, hands‑on demos and site visits, we’ll be diving into the big themes behind our new Sustainability Strategy.
This is your chance to explore what sustainability means for Codi, spark new conversations and see real examples of change in action. Most importantly, we want to hear from you. Your ideas, insights and feedback are essential — because building a more sustainable Codi is something we can only achieve together.
Let’s get inspired, get involved and make a difference!
10.30am: Strategy introduction
Hear from the Sustainability Team about Codi's new Sustainability Strategy and learn about Codi's plans for the future.
11am: Decarbonising Codi's properties
Elfed Roberts, Head of Sustainability & Innovation
Codi's New Homes Decarbonisation Strategy outlines the tools, technologies and standards we'll use in all our new developments, helping us to reach net zero by 2050 and ensuring comfortable, energy efficient properties for our customers. This session explains what we're doing, how and why.
11.45am: What is a circular economy?
Alun Harries, Wastesavers Charity Manager
Using real‑world examples to show how circular ideas can benefit people, communities and the environment alike, this session will explore how rethinking waste, materials, and our everyday choices can help create a more sustainable future for all of us.
12.30pm: Lunch break
Another opportunity to get up close to our decarbonisation tech and learn more about how it works.
1pm: How FREDIE helps us deliver a fair transition together
Nicola Jones, Strategic Lead for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Codi’s Sustainability Strategy sets out what we want to achieve. FREDIE is how we make sure we get there fairly, inclusively and with colleagues empowered to shape the journey. This isn’t a deep dive into the sustainability themes you’ll hear about today. This is about how we do sustainability well, and the role every colleague has in that.
1.30pm: What does social value mean?
Samantha Howells, Head of Social Value
What is social value and how does it relate to sustainability? This session will explore how environmental action, social wellbeing, and economic benefit are interconnected, showing how sustainable projects can deliver positive outcomes for people and communities as well as the planet.
2.15pm: The importance of customer engagement and participation
Akshita Lakhiwal, Tpas Cymru, Net Zero Engagement Officer
What do tenants think about sustainability engagement and energy efficiency? Using Tenant Pulse survey insights and feedback from residents, Tpas Cyrmu will share key themes such as trust, concerns about costs, and the need for clearer communication and earlier involvement. They will also highlight where landlord views don’t always match tenant experiences, and offer simple, practical ideas to improve engagement and support sustainability efforts.
