City Churches East of the Monument- this is a guided two hour walk by Lionel
Thursday, October 29th
10.45 am meet at Monument Station, Fish Street Hill entrance.
During the Great Fire of London in 1666, initially the wind was blowing from the direction of the Tower. Some eastern churches were destroyed and later rebuilt by the team headed by Sir Christopher Wren. In these cases, 17th century-style classical reconstruction didn’t take place, churches often have more individual designs, and some are older. As before, the walk will include viewing of several buildings plus, if possible, short visits inside one or two
