Description

Open to any staff or volunteers, this training offer is a key part of CWVA's Volunteering in Sanctuary project, funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The session will introduce key considerations for managing and supporting volunteers who are refugees, asylum seekers, or 'vulnerable' migrants. It will combine theoretical context with practical guidance, helping organisations to create inclusive and effective volunteer programmes.

The session will cover:

  • Legal and policy context
  • Barriers to participation and appropriate strategies of support
  • Inclusive and culturally aware volunteer management
  • Safeguarding, boundaries, and ethical practice
  • Creating welcoming and meaningful volunteering opportunities

Attendees will leave with greater confidence and awareness of how to support refugee and asylum seeker volunteers effectively.
