Staff: Understanding, preventing and responding to online harm

Our Staff session explores the 4Cs of online safety, as explored in KCSIE, and provides both preventative and responsive strategies.

  • Understanding: The 4Cs of online safety, with a focus on emerging risks and trends
  • Content – online pornography, harmful content, body image, algorithms and online hate
  • Conduct – sharing nudes, misuse of generative AI, AI nudification, and child on child online sexual harassment
  • Contact – online child sexual abuse imagery and AI chatbots
  • Commerce – influencers, financial scams and online sexual extortion (sextortion)
  • Preventing: How can we create a whole organisation approach to reach the wider community
  • Discussing the guiding principles in line with the 2025 RSE curriculum
  • Understanding the role of filtering and monitoring
  • Useful resources and websites to help embed online safety
  • How to protect yourself online and where to get support
  • Responding: Safeguarding reminders, barriers to young people reporting (including victim blaming attitudes), immediate response, useful reporting websites, and helpful hotlines
